All the production processes begin with the extraction of iron ore from the mines that CAP Mining controls in the north of Chile (III and IV Regions).

If the ore has a low amount of impurities (mainly phosphorous and sulfur), it can be used for direct load in the blast furnaces, requiring just crushing and concentration treatment.

If the level of impurities (mainly phosphorous and sulfur) of the mineral is relatively high, the crushing and concentration is carried out as in the Elqui valley process, but it also requires a chemical pelletization process where these impurities are significantly reduced. This is the case of the Los Colorados and El Algarrobo mines whose minerals supply the Huasco pellets plant.
